SNOW ALERT
The Borough of Newtown has an ordinance which requires snow removal from all public sidewalks. All owners, occupants, residents and tenants are urged to read and comply with the Snow and Ice Removal Ordinance Chapter 126 listed below.
Failure to comply may result in financial and other penalties.
Please remember to clear all curb cuts, a minimum of 32” wide, for the handicapped.
§126-2 Newtown Code §126-2
§126-2. Removal by owner, occupant or tenant.
- The owner, occupant or tenant of every property fronting upon or alongside of any of the streets in the Borough of Newtown is hereby required to remove or cause to be removed from all of the important sidewalks in front of or alongside of such property all snow or ice thereon fallen or formed within eight (8) hours after the same shall have ceased to fall or form; provided that snow or ice which has ceased to fall or to be formed after 6:00 p.m. of any evening may be removed at any time before 12:00 noon of the next day.
- The owner of a property shall be solely responsible for complying with the requirements hereof when the property is unoccupied or is occupied either by the owner alone or by the owner and tenants or occupants concurrently.
- The tenant or occupier shall be solely responsible when such property is occupied by such tenant or occupant only.
- The owner shall be solely responsible when the property is a multi-dwelling property, occupied by more than one (1) tenant or occupant.
